COLGATE PALMOLIVE LAUNCHES “ORAL HEALTH MONTH” 2016, TO HELP EVEN MORE MYANMAR PEOPLE ACHIEVE GOOD ORAL HEALTH

(Myanmar, January 18, 2016) Today, Colgate-Palmolive and the Myanmar Dental Association marked the launch of the fourth annual Oral Health Month Campaign in Myanmar, with a kick-off event in Mandalay. This year’s campaign, which will run from 1st to 29th February 2016, is set to be bigger and better than before, with Colgate pledging to help even more Myanmar people improve their oral health. The kick-off event was held at Mingalar Mandalay, and featured free check-ups for all visitors, Q+A sessions with representatives from Colgate Palmolive and the Myanmar dental Association.

Throughout February 2016, the “Oral Health Month” awareness campaign aims to drive a growing number of Myanmar consumers in understanding the importance of proper oral care by providing free oral health education materials and free dental check-ups to children and their families at 414 dental clinics across Yangon, Mandalay, and other cities and towns in Myanmar. In 2015, Colgate dentist partners treated over 55,000 people at 379 clinics across the country during the previous “Oral Health Month” campaign. This year, with the participation of even more clinics across Myanmar (including 168 in the Yangon region) Colgate is hoping to reach even more of the Myanmar people.

“At Colgate we understand the importance of having a healthy smile. A smile can go a very long way, so having the confidence to smile is really important, and good oral health is central to this. We’re proud to continue our efforts in collaboration with the Myanmar Dental Association to keep the people of Myanmar smiling,” said Dr.Sompong Senior Professional Relation Manager, Colgate. “Colgate’s annual Oral Health Month is a long term commitment to the Myanmar people, and we hope to help more and more people every year. Oral health is a key component of overall health, just brushing your teeth twice a day can reduce your chances of contracting toothache, losing tooth, gum disease and improve your overall immune system, so education on this topic is vital for Myanmar communities.”
“On behalf of the Myanmar Dental Association, we are so pleased to work alongside Colgate again, for the fourth year, in hosting Oral Health Month in Myanmar. Colgate shares and supports our important goal of educating on oral care and improving the oral care of children and families. We are looking forward to seeing both the short term and long term results of this continued partnership,” said Professor Pwint Hpoo, President of Myanmar Dental Association.
